Pointools software is everywhere at Intergeo 2010

According to the official website INTERGEO is the world’s largest event and communication platform for geodesy, geoinformation and land management.

And according to my own research after walking the hall(s) for a full day – putting faces to names and making new acquaintances – Pointools software was the most prevalent software being showcased in exhibition stands on both levels of the double-decker exhibition space. By my reckoning, no other software appeared in as many stands as Pointools software did.

And it doesn’t take a genius to work out why. When compared to other offerings, Pointools software:

  • Opens larger point cloud models
  • Increases scanner file format interoperability
  • Produces smoother point cloud animation
  • Enables POD model reuse inside more desktop CAD applications

In short, for many vendors at Intergeo 2010, Pointools software is the first choice to best demonstrate the power and quality of their own hardware, software, and service offerings.

Joining the Pointools team on the exhibition floor were most if not all of the biggest names in the industry. Many Pointools partners were present including Autodesk and various Rhino 3D offerings, all of the big names in 3D laser scanning technology were there too. FARO showed up with a huge smile and its brand-spanking, price-busting, new “Focus 3D” scanner. Keeping them company, Riegl, Topcon, Optech, and Leica also all showed up their own equipment.

In my all-too short ‘one-day’ trip I got to talk with folks from almost all of our hardware partners.

In addition I got to chat with many of our sales partners from 3D Laser Mapping Ltd. – with its “Street Mapper” offerings; Laser Scanning Europe GMBH – with the new FARO Focus 3D laser scanner; Teccon – with its own mobile and service offerings; and Urbica – the French firm serving international EPCs across Europe.

While my visit was fleeting, the Pointools team remains on-site for the duration of the show. Faraz Ravi – Pointools CEO, Dan Cutler – Pointools ‘super’ AE, and Cyril Patureau – an experienced 3D laser scanner/surveyor are all on hand in the very busy Pointools exhibition stand.
